The Pferdeklinik Bargteheide specialises in operating on orthopaedic patients. The entire range of surgical services at Pferdeklinik Bargteheide includes Arthroscopy, Osteosynthesis up to the Soft tissue surgery. Soft tissue surgery includes the Laryngeal whistler and Kopper operation as well as all other operations in the upper respiratory tract such as Entrapment surgery, Soft palate surgery and Cyst surgery in the epiglottis area (epiglottis cyst).

Laparoscopic operations on the horse are treated in our equine clinic, especially for Castration from Cryptorchids (Klopp stallions) and for mares with Ovarian tumours performed. Diagnostic laparoscopies can be carried out as part of internal examinations for unclear disease processes in the horse's abdomen (e.g. spleen, liver, kidney, intestine). For very complex procedures, it is also possible to call in Prof Dr A. Rijkenhuizen as an honorary surgeon. In the area of Tumour surgery This includes all necessary operations from skin tumours and eye tumours to maxillary sinus and ovarian tumours. Surgery in the head area includes Extraction from molars and incisors and Maxillary sinus surgery of any kind, such as sinus cyst surgery and surgery for ethmoidal haematoma. The surgical treatment of Skull and jaw fractures is performed with internal fixation (plating) or external fixation (external fixator), depending on the type of fracture.

As a surgical option for patients with Ataxia (wobbler syndrome), Pferdeklinik Bargteheide is one of the few clinics in Germany to offer surgical fusion of the cervical spine in the affected area.

The surgical treatment of horses with Kissing spine syndrome is also part of our clinic's range of surgical services. Surgical treatment of all types of injuries is of course also carried out.
