The clinic's areas of responsibility also include the intensive medical care of foals. In addition to foal orthopaedics, which mainly deals with lameness and congenital and acquired limb deformities (see Orthopaedics), internal medicine and surgery are of great importance in the field of foal medicine.
Our experienced vets and extensive diagnostic and therapeutic equipment are available for the intensive care of foals that are weak and premature.
Depending on the symptoms and clinical findings, an ultrasound and/or X-ray examination can be a helpful and useful addition to the clinical examination of the foal. In addition, many laboratory tests are carried out and validated directly in the clinic and are therefore immediately available.
Infectious lung and/or joint diseases often require complex, lengthy and sometimes cost-intensive drug therapy.
Umbilical diseases and infections are treated conservatively or, if necessary, surgically. Colic disorders in foals can also be treated conservatively (intestinal pitching behaviour, foal diarrhoea, stomach ulcers) and, if necessary (intestinal obstruction), surgically.
Infectious patients can be accommodated in isolation stables.
