Dentistry is becoming increasingly important in equine medicine. Problems caused by dental diseases can manifest themselves in many different ways.
For outpatient or inpatient Dental routine treatments and the Dental surgery we use the latest standards and modern tools.
If required, we can utilise a variety of modern imaging procedures, such as Endoscopy of the oral cavity, Digital X-ray, Computed tomography (CT), Scintigraphy and Ultrasound for further diagnostics.
For diseases of the teeth, jaw and paranasal sinuses, all diagnostic procedures and almost all surgical interventions can be performed under standing anaesthesia on a standing horse using minimally invasive techniques.
Dental routine treatments
For horses, it is advisable to have their teeth examined once a year by a colleague specialising in dentistry
- Routine outpatient dental treatment under sedation if further diagnostics are required
- Inpatient routine dental treatment under sedation (the horse is hospitalised due to another illness and the dental check is „on“ or necessary)
- Tartar removal
- Dental restoration
Further dental examinations (under sedation):
- Endoscopy of the oral cavity
- Digital X-ray: visualisation of the tooth roots, jaw bones and paranasal sinuses
- Endoscopy of the nasal passages and paranasal sinuses
- Computer tomography (CT) on a standing horse for detailed imaging of all structures of the head (teeth, roots, nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, temporomandibular joints, hyoid bone, air sacs, skull bones) often useful and necessary for further clarification of unilateral nasal discharge, tumours, fractures of the upper or lower jaw or skull bones
