A C-arm is a semi-circular, mobile X-ray unit. It consists of an X-ray generator and an image receiver which are positioned opposite each other, joined together by the arc and connected to a viewing station. This special design offers flexible positioning around the patient, which makes it easier to use, especially in the area of the limbs.
At the Bargteheide Equine Clinic, we mainly use this type of fluoroscopy for the surgical treatment of bone defects with screw implants or autologous and synthetic bone material, as it offers very precise control of the instrument and implant position thanks to live imaging with minimal radiation exposure.
